A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Carlton Warnock; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Carlton Warnock, a native of Montgomery County, Georgia, was the son of the late
James Tillman Warnock, Sr., and the late Dora Braddy Warnock; and
WHEREAS,
he earned degrees from Mercer University and the University of Georgia School of
Law; and
WHEREAS,
he was an outstanding public servant, serving as Treutlen County attorney for 53
years, as solicitor for more than 22 years, and as judge of the state court of
Treutlen County for 22 years; and
WHEREAS,
he was an extraordinary judge, presiding over approximately 50,000 cases in
state court without ever being reversed; and
WHEREAS,
he provided valuable leadership as a member of the Board of Governors of the
state bar, the Treutlen Hospital Authority, and the Treutlen Industrial
Development Authority; and
WHEREAS,
he and his beloved wife Jane Marsh Warnock reared a fine family of three
daughters and had three cherished grandchildren and five great-grandchildren;
and
WHEREAS,
he was held in high esteem by other judges and attorneys, and well known
throughout his community for his integrity.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body honor the
life and memory of Carlton Warnock, exemplary judge and public servant, and
extend condolences to his family, friends, and community.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Jane Marsh Warnock.
