A RESOLUTION

Expressing regret at the passing of Perry Lee DeLoach; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia recently lost one of its finest and most distinguished citizens with the passing of Perry Lee DeLoach; and

WHEREAS, he was an honest and dedicated public servant who strived for excellence in all his endeavors and whose primary concern was the welfare and safety of the citizens of Claxton; and

WHEREAS, this beloved gentleman exhibited extraordinary devotion to duty, outstanding loyalty, fine leadership, and meticulous attention to detail in all his duties throughout his career of peerless public service as the Mayor of Claxton for the past 34 years; and

WHEREAS, his tremendous commitment and efforts in support of his community include being a member of the First United Methodist Church of Claxton, a member and past president of the Rotary Club, past president of the Jaycees, past president of the local chapter of the American Red Cross, past president of the Georgia Municipal Association in the first district, and member of the VFW and American Legion, as well as serving his country as a Marine with two tours during World War II and the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, Mr. DeLoach was also a salesman and dealer and owner for Ford Motor Company for 35 years; and

WHEREAS, his unparalleled organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his acute sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of his community and state earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, Perry Lee DeLoach was not only an outstanding professional and community activist, he was also a dedicated husband to his wife Jean and loving father to his daughter, Catherine; and

WHEREAS, the passing of this generous, kind, and devoted family man leaves an unfillable void in the hearts and lives of his family and friends across the state and especially by citizens of Claxton.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body express their deepest and most sincere regret at the passing of Perry Lee DeLoach and extend to his family their utmost appreciation for his having so purely and truly defined for others the meaning of public servant.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Perry Lee DeLoach.
