A RESOLUTION

Remembering and honoring the life of C. D. Dean, Mayor of the City of Guyton; and for other purposes

WHEREAS, C. D. Dean exhibited a rare and lifelong devotion to his hometown of Guyton, Georgia, and embodied an even rarer concern for the common good; and

WHEREAS, he volunteered as a firefighter in Guyton for more than 40 years and had served as the city´s mayor since 1998; and

WHEREAS, he was an active defender of the city´s interests and an enthusiastic promoter of its civic and social events; and

WHEREAS, he was a loyal member and deacon of the Pine Street Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Mayor Dean was a kindly example to the children of his church and those at Guyton Elementary School, where he attended almost all of the school functions and sat with the youngsters nearly every day; and

WHEREAS, he was a devoted husband to his wife, Liz Dean, and a loving father to his daughter, Cynthia Dean, and his son, Devon Dean.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join together to express their deepest regret at the passing of Mayor C. D. Dean and extend their most sincere condolences to his family and City of Guyton community.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of C. D. Dean.
