RESOLUTION
Congratulating
the DeKalb County Community Relations Commission; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the DeKalb County Community Relations Commission will be celebrating the 35th
anniversary of its founding; and
WHEREAS,
this outstanding organization has grown from its humble beginnings in 1970 into
one of the most respected groups in the state epitomizing a broad base of
various religious, economic, cultural, racial, and occupational views;
and
WHEREAS,
the principle of the commission is to promote, encourage, and develop equal
treatment and opportunities for all residents of the county; and
WHEREAS,
the commission seeks out, investigates, and works toward solutions to problems
in the realm of human relations and community relations and functions as a
liaison between DeKalb's citizens and county government; and
WHEREAS,
the commission continues to meet its goals by fostering a positive and
forward-thinking approach to human and community relations in DeKalb County;
and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
amazing group be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
congratulate the DeKalb County Community Relations Commission on the occasion
of its 35th anniversary, commend it for its many outstanding contributions on
behalf of the citizens of Georgia, and extend to it their best wishes for
continued growth, development, and success in the future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the DeKalb County
Community Relations Commission.
