RESOLUTION
Celebrating
the 100th birthday of Mrs. Julia Lewis Gordon Pelote; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
born on March 24, 1905, in Oconee, Georgia, to loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will
Lewis, Julia Lewis Gordon Pelote is celebrating her 100th birthday this year;
and
WHEREAS,
becoming a Christian in 1914, Mrs. Gordon Pelote attended the Jordon Grove
Baptist Church and attended school in Sandersville while helping on her family's
farm; and
WHEREAS,
today, she is still a faithful member of her church where she has served as a
Sunday school teacher, a member of the senior choir, president of the choir for
eight years, a deaconess, and Mother of the church; and
WHEREAS,
she has seen the world change dramatically over the course of her lifetime and
has contributed to its progress through her own hard work and good citizenship;
and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Gordon Pelote is a wonderful and devoted mother, having raised her son, the
late Willie B. Gordon, and seven step-children; and
WHEREAS,
she enjoys spending time with her two grandsons, Roger Mydell and Thornell
Seabrooks, and her more than 20 step-grandchildren as well as her many precious
great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces; and
WHEREAS,
this captivating lady always brings a smile to friends and family, and it is
only fitting and proper that she be appropriately recognized during this very
special and memorable time of her life.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
wishing Mrs. Julia Lewis Gordon Pelote a delightful 100th birthday, thank her
for her many wonderful contributions to the State of Georgia, and extend their
sincere best wishes for many more years of health and happiness.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Julia Lewis Gordon
Pelote.
