RESOLUTION
Recognizing
C.L. Tidwell; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
C.L. Tidwell founded Tidwell Plumbing in 1956 at the age of 16 alongside his
wife, Doris; the business now has six employees, some of whom have been with him
for over 35 years; he has a daughter, Carla, and a son, Michael, that work in
his business; he also has two grandchildren, Jacob and Katie; and he is always
on hand to give out free advice to help someone in need; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Tidwell began a monthly breakfast at the site known as "The Cabin" on Sugar
Valley Road in Cartersville as an opportunity for people of Bartow County to
gather and discuss local issues and interests; and
WHEREAS,
beginning with seven participants in 1982, the breakfast – a traditional
meal prepared by several loyal volunteers and served at no charge to friends and
guests – has grown to regular attendance of 60 or more (with a high
attendance of 150) and become an event where many local and national issues are
debated; and
WHEREAS,
high profile guests have included U.S. Senator Isakson, Governor Perdue, and
Congressmen Linder and Gingrey.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
C.L. Tidwell and his breakfast debate tradition and commend him for his
contributions to the welfare of his community and this state.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to C.L. Tidwell.
