RESOLUTION
Creating
the Senate City of Fairview Incorporation Study Committee; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
SB 348, which would incorporate the new City of Fairview in Henry County, was
introduced at the 2005 regular session of the General Assembly of Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
there is a perceived need to study in more detail the potential effects of
creating such city and receive comment at public hearings during the interim
between the 2005 and 2006 regular sessions of the General Assembly before acting
further on such or similar legislation.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY SENATE there is created the Senate City of Fairview
Incorporation Study Committee to be composed of two members of the Senate
consisting of Senator Emanuel Jones of the 10th District and Senator Terrell
Starr of the 44th District. Senator Jones shall serve as chairperson of the
committee. The chairperson shall call all meetings of the
committee.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the committee shall undertake a study of the
conditions, needs, issues, and problems mentioned above or related thereto and
recommend any action or legislation which the committee deems necessary or
appropriate. The committee may conduct such meetings at such places and at such
times as it may deem necessary or convenient to enable it to exercise fully and
effectively its powers, perform its duties, and accomplish the objectives and
purposes of this resolution. The committee shall not meet for more than five
days unless additional days are authorized. In the event the committee makes a
report of its findings and recommendations, with suggestions for proposed
legislation, if any, such report shall be made on or before December 1, 2005.
The committee shall stand abolished on December 1, 2005.
