Senate Resolution 515

A RESOLUTION

Congratulating and commending Comer B. Yates; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Comer B. Yates was born March 25, 1910, to J.E.B. and Mollie B. Yates, and he was one of their 12 children; and

WHEREAS, he served as a teacher, principal, and school superintendent for a combined total of 40 years; and

WHEREAS, he also served as a bailiff in Cobb County courts for 15 years until he retired at the age of 91; and

WHEREAS, he will soon celebrate his 95th birthday; and

WHEREAS, he married Gladys Harrod in 1932; and

WHEREAS, he has two children, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that he be recognized by this body.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body congratulate Comer B. Yates upon the occasion of his 95th birthday and commend him for his many contributions to the public welfare.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Comer B. Yates.
