A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
Bethlehem Baptist Church on its 141st anniversary; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Bethlehem Baptist Church was organized in 1864 in Plains, Georgia, and has
served God and the citizens of this area for 141 years; and
WHEREAS,
throughout its distinguished history, this church has been blessed with many
wonderful pastors who have served the congregation as well as the community;
and
WHEREAS,
the members of Bethlehem Baptist Church, past and present, have shared their
sanctuary with the citizens of the area as a community center for religious
services, educational events, and political gatherings; and
WHEREAS,
under the able leadership of Pastor Leonard Boston and his wife; Deacon Edward
Hicks, Chairman; and Sister Rosa L. Patrick, Mother of the Church, there has
been a renewed spiritual awakening amongst the flock over the past 11 years;
and
WHEREAS,
a grand anniversary celebration will be held on April 17, 2005, to commemorate
the 141st year of the church's existence.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
honoring Bethlehem Baptist Church of Plains, Georgia, and congratulate its
congregation on the momentous occasion of the church's 141st
anniversary.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Bethlehem Baptist Church.
