A RESOLUTION

Recognizing Miss Erin Grizzle, Miss Heart of Georgia 2005; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Miss Erin Grizzle, the daughter of Jackie and Susan Grizzle, is a 2004 graduate of the University of Georgia where she excelled academically as a Robert Byrd Scholar and was a member of several honor societies, including Delta Epsilon Iota and Golden Key; and

WHEREAS, this graceful and gifted young lady has given generously of her time and talents to actively promote her platform of Youth Mentoring: Empowering America's Future throughout the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Miss Grizzle has been involved with six different mentoring organizations across the state, including the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America; and

WHEREAS, this former Miss Georgia Apple Queen makes her home in Ellijay, the Apple Capital of Georgia, and competed in the 2003 Miss Georgia pageant as Miss Thunder Road; and

WHEREAS, on February 19 in Cordele, Georgia, Miss Grizzle was crowned Miss Heart of Georgia 2005, an official preliminary pageant to the Miss Georgia and Miss America pageants; and

WHEREAS, the Miss America system rewards young women who are considered to be beautiful, talented, and articulate role models and is the single largest scholarship provider for young women in the United States.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in recognizing Miss Erin Grizzle for her exemplary dedication to the youth of this state and nation and extend to her their sincere best wishes in the Miss Georgia Pageant.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Miss Erin Grizzle.
