A
RESOLUTION
Commending
the Etowah High School Lady Eagles basketball team, 2004-2005 Class AAAA State
Champions; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Etowah High School Lady Eagles basketball team defeated Westside-Macon High
School 61-47 to make school history, capturing the 2004-2005 Class AAAA Girls
State Basketball Championship, Etowah's first state basketball title;
and
WHEREAS,
under the expert guidance of Head Coach Bob Westbrook and Assistant Coaches Rob
Graner and Jim Spivey, the Lady Eagles finished the season with an amazing
record of 27-6 and a 15-3 record in Region 6 AAAA, where they finished second;
and
WHEREAS,
this memorable team also defeated Bishop Moore High School in the championship
game of the Orlando Tournament; and
WHEREAS,
these victories were the culmination of a season of hard work, dedication, and
exemplary sportsmanship among these outstanding young ladies, including Emily
McNeill, Tagan Hatchett, Lisa Gaunder, Kristie Spivey, MacKenzie Stiles, Alicia
Manning, Sara Schuenemeyer, Lindsey Mason, Tiauna Brantley, Nicole Frechette,
Kayla Rollins, and Jade Mauldin; and
WHEREAS,
the Cherokee County community and the State of Georgia take great pride in the
accomplishments of these fine young champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join to
commend the 2004-2005 Class AAAA Etowah High School Lady Eagles basketball team
for their magnificent performance during this unforgettable season.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Etowah High School
Lady Eagles basketball team.
