RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending GBI forensic artist Marla Lawson for her outstanding service and
dedication to Georgia´s criminal justice community; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Ms. Lawson´s career as a forensic artist began in the mid-1980´s with
the Atlanta Police Department; and
WHEREAS,
her talents were enlisted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in 1977;
and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Lawson´s drawings have been instrumental in the identification and
apprehension of hundreds of perpetrators; and
WHEREAS,
her most famous drawing is of suspected Centennial Park bomber Eric Robert
Rudolph; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Lawson is always ready to assist when needed and responds to requests on
weekends and evenings; and the investigators from across the state whom she
assists consistently comment not only on her exceptional talents, but also on
her enthusiasm, patience, and dedication; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Lawson is not only a tremendous asset to the GBI but to the entire criminal
justice community in Georgia; her unparalleled talent has assisted law
enforcement officers in taking some of the most violent criminals off of the
streets, making Georgia a safer place for its citizens.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
recognizing and commending Ms. Marla Lawson for her many years of esteemed
service to the criminal justice community of the State of Georgia.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Marla Lawson.
