A
RESOLUTION
Commending
the Charlton County High School football team, 2004 Georgia High School
Association Class AA State Champions; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Charlton County High School football team captured the 2004 Class AA State
Championship with a 35-20 win against the Buford Wolves on December 4, 2004;
and
WHEREAS,
this is the second state championship for Charlton County in the past six years,
with the 1999 team claiming the Class A title; and
WHEREAS,
the Indians finished the season with an amazing record of 14 wins and 1 loss;
and
WHEREAS,
these victories were the culmination of seasons of hard work, exemplary
sportsmanship, and exceptional teamwork among this fine group of outstanding
young men; and
WHEREAS,
under the superb guidance of Head Coach Richard McWhorter, who has been Charlton
County's head coach for 15 years, the Indians have reached the state playoffs
each year for the past decade and a half, during which time more than 60 players
have accepted college football scholarships; and
WHEREAS,
the Charlton County community and the State of Georgia take great pride in the
achievements of these young champions and their dedicated head
coach.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the members of the Charlton County High School football team, 2004 Georgia High
School Association Class AA State Champions, and Head Coach Richard McWhorter
for their hard work and determination during this memorable season.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach Richard
McWhorter, Charlton County High School.
