A RESOLUTION

Remembering and honoring the life of Chief Deputy Gary Barnard; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Chief Deputy Gary Barnard worked in law enforcement for 30 years and, for the past eight years, served the citizens of Tattnall County as Chief Deputy of the Sheriff´s Department; and

WHEREAS, a member of the Peace Officers´ Association of Georgia and the Georgia Sheriffs´ Association, Chief Deputy Barnard was highly esteemed for his talent and skill as a law enforcement official; and

WHEREAS, those who had the pleasure to call him their friend or colleague will remember the way he led his department by his own example of hard work, professionalism, and dedication to duty as well as his upbeat personality and his good-natured sense of humor; and

WHEREAS, the Candler County native was a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, he was a faithful and devoted husband to his wife, Mrs. Connie A. Barnard, with whom he shared 38 years of joy, sorrow, and quiet routine as they raised their beloved children, Lisa Todd, Brian Barnard, and the late Michael Paul Barnard, and enjoyed watching as their five grandchildren, Ashley Glisson, Kristen and Kaleb Boyett, and Kayleigh and Logan Barnard, and one precious great-grandchild, Trenton Glisson, grew and blossomed into outstanding individuals; and

WHEREAS, with the passing of Chief Deputy Gary Barnard, the State of Georgia has lost a most esteemed public servant.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join to express their deepest regret at the passing of Chief Deputy Gary Barnard and extend their sincere condolences to his family.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Chief Deputy Gary Barnard.
