RESOLUTION
Recognizing
the Edwards, Thomas, Wesley, Cooper, Phillips, Hawkins, Dixon, Moffett, Vines,
Stingley 31st Family Reunion and commending its host, the Moffett Committee; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
from July 1 to 3, 2005, the Moffett Committee is hosting the 31st Family Reunion
for the Edwards, Thomas, Wesley, Cooper, Phillips, Hawkins, Dixon, Moffett,
Vines, and Stingley family; and
WHEREAS,
this wonderful event will give its guests a chance to visit with beloved family
members and meet other family members for the first time; and
WHEREAS,
together, this family will enjoy the many attractions of Augusta's beautiful
Riverwalk, its tree-shaded walkway, evening concerts, tempting shops, and
interesting museums; and
WHEREAS,
many fun and exciting events are planned as this family enjoys good food and
fellowship, music and dancing, and the much anticipated family fashion show;
and
WHEREAS,
young and old will remember and honor the struggles of their ancestors who rose
from slavery to become sharecroppers and then landowners, and this common
history will inspire all with the strength and courage to achieve great
things.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
the 31st Edwards, Thomas, Wesley, Cooper, Phillips, Hawkins, Dixon, Moffett,
Vines, Stingley Family Reunion, commend the Moffett Committee for hosting this
grand event, and extend their sincere best wishes to each member of this
remarkable family.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Moffett Committee.
