A
RESOLUTION
Congratulating
the 2005 Stratford Academy Girls Basketball Team, winners of the GISA Class AAA
State Championship; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
with the support of its fans and the guidance of Coach Ed Smith, the Stratford
Academy Girls Basketball Team captured the 2004 GISA Class AAA State Basketball
Championship, finishing the season with an outstanding perfect record of 28 wins
and no losses; and
WHEREAS,
the team defeated another previously undefeated team from George Walton Academy
in the championship game by a score of 52-32 to claim the Class AAA
championship, the first time in GISA history that two undefeated teams had met
for the sate championship; and
WHEREAS,
these victories were the culmination of a season of hard work, exemplary
sportsmanship, and exceptional teamwork among this close-knit group of
outstanding young ladies; and
WHEREAS,
Macon and the Bibb County community and the State of Georgia take great pride in
the accomplishments of these fine young champions and the leadership of Coach Ed
Smith.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
congratulating the 2005 GISA Class AAA State Champion Stratford Academy Girls
Basketball Team on an outstanding season.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach Ed Smith.
