RESOLUTION
Expressing
regret at the passing of James S. Mason; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
on February 12, 2005, the State of Georgia lost one of its finest and most
distinguished citizens with the tragic and untimely passing of James S. Mason;
and
WHEREAS,
this exceptional individual exhibited outstanding leadership in all of his life,
including his service as a founding board member of the Houston County
Development Authority, serving from 1974 until his death; as one of the founding
fathers of the City of Centerville and as its first police officer and as a
member of the city council for three terms; and as a deacon in the First Baptist
Church of Centerville; and
WHEREAS,
his unparalleled organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience
and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his acute sensitivity to the needs
of the citizens of his community and state earned him the respect and admiration
of his colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
the untimely passing of this generous, kind, and devoted man leaves an
unfillable void in the hearts and lives of his family and friends.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body express
their deepest and most sincere regret at the passing of James S.
Mason.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of James S.
Mason.
