A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the Armor 4 Troops Foundation, Inc.; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the primary mission of the Armor 4 Troops Foundation, Inc., is to provide new and replacement state-of-the-art antiballistic eyewear, underarmor, boots, personal gear, and other critical equipment and services directly to United States troops in the field; and

WHEREAS, its secondary mission is to help provide financial assistance to families of our critically wounded troops that have been admitted to Walter Reed Hospital or Bethesda Naval Hospital in Washington, D.C., for severe trauma treatment; and

WHEREAS, they also seek to provide a variety of aftercare services to our critically wounded troops that have sustained the loss of limb or eyesight; and

WHEREAS, their number one goal, to provide 1,000 pairs of protective antiballistic eyewear to our American troops in the field by the end of 2005, was accomplished, and their goal for 2006 is to provide 2,000 pairs of antiballistic eyewear to United States troops fighting on the front lines; and

WHEREAS, this organization also works to provide a personal gear package which includes protective antiballistic eyewear, protective clothing, and emergency gear including a heat-gear shirt and pair of compression shorts, one military grade combat multitool, current releases or inspirational DVDs or CDs, many different hygiene products, and reading material to help fill their off-duty times; and

WHEREAS, the Armor 4 Troops Foundation, Inc., would like to provide further services for those who have sustained permanent loss of sight or other disabling injury as a result of combat-related wounds received in Iraq or Afghanistan by providing one guide dog and the related training and six new retrofitted vehicles; and

WHEREAS, this organization had developed a simple plan of action that has proven successful in providing needed equipment to our troops in the field.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend the Armor 4 Troops Foundation, Inc., and their outstanding efforts to provide crucial equipment and aid to our American troops.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Armor 4 Troops Foundation, Inc.
