Senate Resolution 1207

A RESOLUTION

Commending the Alfred and Adele Davis Academy; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Alfred and Adele Davis Academy is an accredited Reform Jewish School providing an academically challenging environment with enriched curricula, integrating general subjects and Judaic studies from kindergarten through eighth grade; and

WHEREAS, the school was the first Jewish day school in the Southeast to receive dual accreditation from both the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Southern Association of Independent Schools; and

WHEREAS, respected throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area for the scholastic success of its pupils, the Davis Academy was recently featured in 11Alive News's "Class Act" segment in recognition of its students' top ranking in math competitions; and

WHEREAS, the mission of the school is to help young people discover who they are as Jews and learners by stressing positive attributes, both through the curriculum and through action, that create connections between the students and the larger world; and

WHEREAS, central to the objectives of the Davis Academy are the ideas of leadership and the rights and responsibilities of citizens; and

WHEREAS, instilling in its students a lifelong passion for learning, the Alfred and Adele Davis Academy is actively preparing young Georgians to be tomorrow's leaders.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in commending the Alfred and Adele Davis Academy and thank this outstanding school for its many impressive and important contributions to education in Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Billie Greenberg, President of the Alfred and Adele Davis Academy; Rabbi Steven Ballaban, Head of School; Leah Wolf, Principal; Peter Cline, Middle School Principal; and Rebecca Hunt, Lower School Principal.
