RESOLUTION
Commending
the Epstein School; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Epstein School is a Solomon Schechter Day School established in 1973 by
Rabbi Harry H. Epstein and the visionary leaders of Ahavath Achim Synagogue in
recognition of the need for a Conservative Jewish day school in Atlanta;
and
WHEREAS,
the school serves students from age two through eighth grade at the main campus
in Sandy Springs and children from age two through pre-kindergarten in the
original home at the Ahavath Achim Synagogue; and
WHEREAS,
in 2005, the Epstein School was identified as a United States Department of
Education Innovator and has previously been selected as a Blue Ribbon School for
being among the top 10 percent of private schools in the country;
and
WHEREAS,
80 percent or more of its graduates go on to honors level classes in high
school, and many are accepted into the top universities in the nation;
and
WHEREAS,
in a recent re-accreditation, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
took note of the Epstein School's many outstanding accomplishments, including
the extremely high quality instructional staff, the school's commitment to
achieving excellence, and its successful media and technology program;
and
WHEREAS,
the Epstein School offers its students the Genz television studio, allowing them
to work with state-of-the-art video and editing technology to produce a weekly
live television broadcast entitled "Good Morning Epstein"; and
WHEREAS,
the school also offers an integrated bilingual curriculum with study from the
Torah as students are immersed in the familial values of the Jewish culture;
and
WHEREAS,
thanks to its unwavering dedication to scholastic excellence, the Epstein School
has been a great credit to education in Georgia and serves as a worthy example
for learning institutions throughout the state.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
commending the Epstein School and recognize this distinguished institution's
many contributions to education in Georgia.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Stan Beiner, Head of
School at the Epstein School.
