RESOLUTION
Commending
Operation One Voice and its Special Operations Forces Run; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Operation One Voice is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to honoring the men and
women serving as members of the elite Special Operations Forces of the United
States Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps and raising funds for the needs of
children of fallen Special Operations Forces members; and
WHEREAS,
in tribute to the brave and resolute individuals who risk their lives as members
of Special Operations Forces to defend our nation and our liberty, patriotic
citizens and public safety employees of Georgia and Florida are planning an
honorary, around-the-clock run to deliver to designated military officials at
Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay, Florida, on Veterans' Day, November 11, 2006, funds
to assist the children and families of fallen members of Special Operations
Forces, and a commemorative series of "honor coins" to be given to members of
Special Operations Forces, their families, and their commanders;
and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia takes pride in honoring the steadfast men and women of the
United States Armed Services, who have answered the call to defend our nation
and our freedom; and
WHEREAS,
the courageous, honorable men and women serving in the Armed Forces of the
United States work around the clock on land, sea, and in the air to protect the
liberty of Americans and to protect life and the promise of democracy around the
globe.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
Operation One Voice and the volunteers participating in the Special Operations
Forces Run.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Operation One Voice.
