RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Columbia High School Eagles basketball team for winning the
2006 Class AAAA basketball state championship; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
on his fourth attempt, head basketball coach Phil McCrary and the Columbia High
School Eagles were finally victorious, winning the 2006 Georgia Class AAAA
basketball state championship; and
WHEREAS,
winning the 2006 state championship represents the Eagles' persistence and
dedication to excellence; and
WHEREAS,
the Eagles basketball team has brought great joy and enthusiasm to their fans
and supporters; and
WHEREAS,
through selfless effort, teamwork, and a strong determination, the Eagles
achieved this season what every Class AAAA high school basketball team sets out
to achieve at the beginning of each season; and
WHEREAS,
Coach McCrary and the Columbia High School Eagles basketball team, which
includes seniors Derek Douglas, Johntavious Rucker, Matthew Gay, Amu Saaka,
Chaun Tinney, and Jeremy Lightfoot, and the rest of the team including Steve
Latimore, Travis Leslie, Lance Storrs, Jordan Lemons, Darrius Morrow, Allen
Moorer, and Jeremy Price, should be recognized for their awesome
achievement.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
and commend the Columbia High School Eagles basketball team for winning the 2006
Georgia Class AAAA state championship.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Columbia High School.
