RESOLUTION
Congratulating
the DeKalb County School System for a record signing day for senior football
players; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
high school athletics contribute to the development of team and community pride
and require a commitment to physical conditioning, teamwork, and
self-confidence; and
WHEREAS,
DeKalb County schools experienced a record national signing day when 106 high
school football seniors from 17 high schools signed national letters of intent
to continue their education and football careers; and
WHEREAS,
this group of seniors eclipsed the 2005 total number of 83 and will be enrolled
in 55 different colleges across 17 states and Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS,
the achievement of this senior class is a credit to the county's coaches,
teachers, administrators, parents, and athletic department staff under DeKalb
County Athletic Director Charlie Henderson.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join to
congratulate the DeKalb County School System on its record number of senior
football players who have earned scholarships to continue their education and
athletic careers and to extend their best wishes for future success to all of
these remarkable student athletes.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to the DeKalb County Athletic
Department and to the following high schools of senior scholarship players:
McNair, Stephenson, Martin Luther King, Jr., Tucker, Stone Mountain, Cedar
Grove, Clarkston, Redan, Southwest DeKalb, Dunwoody, Columbia, Chamblee, Cross
Keys, Druid Hills, Lakeside, Lithonia, and Avondale.
