A RESOLUTION

Commending Clayton Andrew Cumbee on becoming an Eagle Scout; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Clayton "Clay" Andrew Cumbee, of Boy Scout Troop 879 in Fitzgerald, Georgia, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, which will be awarded to him at an Eagle Court of Honor in March, 2006; and

WHEREAS, a candidate for this most exceptional award in scouting must earn 21 merit badges, 12 of which are mandatory for the Eagle Scout program; and

WHEREAS, only one scout out of 97 ever reaches this lofty level of achievement, and Clayton Andrew Cumbee has ably demonstrated his aptitude and competency in mastering the many special skills taught through the Boy Scout program; and

WHEREAS, this outstanding young man has truly exhibited a commitment to the scouting principles of honesty and fairness and has consistently conducted himself in a manner becoming of an Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, in a world which all too often seems to dwell on the negative aspects of the actions of young people, it is especially fitting and proper for this body to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of this extraordinary young man.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Clayton Andrew Cumbee for his diligence and dedication in pursuing the highest honor awarded by the Boy Scouts of America and congratulate him on attaining the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Clayton Andrew Cumbee.
