A RESOLUTION

Commending the University of Georgia Football Team on winning the 2005 Southeastern Conference Championship; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, for the second time in four years, the University of Georgia Bulldogs Football Team has won the Southeastern Conference Championship; and

WHEREAS, this victory marks the twelfth time the Bulldogs have won this prestigious title; and

WHEREAS, prior to that, the team won its third Southeastern Conference Eastern Division Championship in the last four years; and

WHEREAS, thanks to the hard work and perseverance of all the team's remarkable athletes, the Bulldogs finished among the nation's top ten teams for the fourth consecutive year, an accomplishment that has occurred twice in the school's history; and

WHEREAS, the Bulldogs were guided to their outstanding success by the able leadership of Head Coach Mark Richt, who was named the SEC Coach of the Year for the second time in the last four years; and

WHEREAS, the University of Georgia Bulldogs Football Team has brought great honor to its school and state through its extraordinary win at the Southeastern Conference Championship.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in commending the University of Georgia Football Team on winning the 2005 Southeastern Conference Championship and congratulate its players and coaches on their outstanding athletic accomplishments.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the players and coaches of the University of Georgia Football Team.
