BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Code Section 40-5-20 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to the requirement for a
driveŕs
license, surrender of prior licenses, and prohibition of local licenses, so as
to provide that any person charged with the offense of driving without having
been issued a valid
driveŕs
license shall, in all cases, be fingerprinted and photographed; to repeal
conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Code
Section 40-5-20 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to the
requirement for a
driveŕs
license, surrender of prior licenses, and prohibition of local licenses, is
amended by striking in its entirety subsection (a) and inserting in lieu thereof
the following:
"(a)
No person, except those expressly exempted in this chapter, shall drive any
motor vehicle upon a highway in this state unless such person has a valid
driveŕs
license under this chapter for the type or class of vehicle being driven. Any
person who is a resident of this state for 30 days shall obtain a Georgia
driveŕs
license before operating a motor vehicle in this state.
Every person
charged with a violation of this subsection shall be fingerprinted and
photographed prior to being
released."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
