BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Code Section 51_2_3, relating to liability for malicious acts of minor
children, so as to provide for liability of a parent or guardian for malicious
acts of minor children with regard to reasonable costs incurred by a school
system and law enforcement agency; to provide for a limitation on such
liability; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Code
Section 51_2_3, relating to liability for malicious acts of minor children, is
amended by inserting a new subsection to be designated subsection (a.1) to read
as follows:
"(a.1)
Every parent or guardian having the custody and control over a minor child or
children under the age of 18 shall be liable in an amount not to exceed
$1,000.00 plus court costs for the willful or malicious act or acts of a minor
child or children resulting in reasonable costs incurred by a school system and
law enforcement agency. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, this
subsection shall apply to threats or warnings relating to explosives, weapons,
or other dangerous
instrumentalities."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
