BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Article 11 of Chapter 6 of Title 40 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to miscellaneous provisions of uniform rules of the road, so
as to prohibit the use of devices containing video screens displaying moving
pictures visible to the operator of any moving motor vehicle; to provide for
related matters; to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and
for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Article
11 of Chapter 6 of Title 40 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to miscellaneous provisions of uniform rules of the road, is amended by
inserting a new Code Section 40-6-241.1 to read as follows:
"40-6-241.1.
No
person shall use in a moving motor vehicle any device which contains a video
screen displaying moving pictures visible to the operator of the motor vehicle.
This Code section shall not apply to factory installed equipment which displays
information regarding vehicle operation, the vehicle´s geographic location,
or route
information."
SECTION
2.
This
Act shall become effective on July 1, 2005.
SECTION
3.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
