Senate State Properties and Institutions Committee offered the following
substitute to SB 182:

BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Chapter 2 of Title 42 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to the Board and Department of Corrections, so as to provide that the death of
an inmate in state custody shall be reported on the individual offender records
maintained on the Internet website of the Department of Corrections; to provide
for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other
purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Chapter
2 of Title 42 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to the Board
and Department of Corrections, is amended by inserting at the end thereof a new
Code Section 42_2_15 to read as follows:
"42_2_15.
Records
on individual offenders which are maintained on and accessible to the general
public via the Internet website of the Department of Corrections shall include
notice of the death of any offender which occurs while such offender is in the
custody of the state and shall indicate whether such death was by natural or
other
cause."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
