BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Chapter 1 of Title 28 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to general provisions regarding the General Assembly, so as to provide for the
introduction of legislation; to provide for the joint sponsorship of
legislation; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for
other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Chapter
1 of Title 28 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to general
provisions regarding the General Assembly, is amended by adding a new Code
Section 28_1_18 to read as follows:
"28_1_18.
Prior
to introduction, each bill or resolution filed in the Senate or the House of
Representatives shall be signed by a sponsor of such bill or resolution who
shall be a member of the body in which the bill or resolution is to be
introduced. A bill or resolution to be introduced in the House of
Representatives may be signed, with the consent of the sponsoring member of the
House of Representatives, by one or more other members of the House of
Representatives or may be jointly sponsored, with the consent of the sponsoring
member of the House of Representatives, by being signed by the sponsor and one
or more other members of the House of Representatives and one or more members of
the Senate. A bill or resolution to be introduced in the Senate may be signed,
with the consent of the sponsoring member of the Senate, by one or more other
members of the Senate or may be jointly sponsored, with the consent of the
sponsoring member of the Senate, by being signed by the sponsor and one or more
other members of the Senate and one or more members of the House of
Representatives. Nothing in this Code section shall be construed to affect the
requirements for certain types of legislation to originate in the House of
Representatives."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
