RESOLUTION
Commending
Mrs. Priscilla Lee Holmes; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Priscilla Lee Holmes was born in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, on December
24, 1924; and
WHEREAS,
she worked as a hotel maid at the Taft and Barclay Hotels in New York City for
more than 35 years; and
WHEREAS,
she was an outstanding union member of the Hotel/Motel Workers Union;
and
WHEREAS,
she moved to Atlanta in the 1980's and has been an outstanding citizen and
active community volunteer and participant in organizations such as AARP,
Ebenezer Baptist Church, and Tenants Association of Friendship Towers and Wheat
Street Towers; and
WHEREAS,
she has contributed much time and effort as a volunteer at Southwest Community
Hospital and at senior citizens homes and apartments, including preparing meals
and desserts for sick and shut-in residents of Friendship Towers and Wheat
Street Towers; and
WHEREAS,
she has been the loving mother of two sons and the grandmother of 19
grandchildren.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mrs. Priscilla Lee Holmes for the many contributions that she
has made to her family and the City of Atlanta.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs.
Priscilla Lee Holmes.
