RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the extraordinarily successful career of Coach Thomas "T"
McFerrin on the occasion of his retirement; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Coach McFerrin has been one of Georgia's most successful high school football
coaches over the past 30 years; and
WHEREAS,
in the course of his career, Coach McFerrin's teams compiled a record of 301
victories, 93 losses, and four ties, a winning percentage of more than 76
percent; and
WHEREAS,
on October 1, 2004, the South Gwinnett High School Comets defeated Meadowbrook
High School 35-6 for the 300th coaching victory in Coach McFerrin's illustrious
career; and
WHEREAS,
in 2003, Coach McFerrin led South Gwinnett High School to its first and only
Championship in Region 8-AAAAA, arguably the most competitive region in the
State of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
in 1995, Coach McFerrin led the Elbert County High School Blue Devils to their
first and only State Class AA Championship; and
WHEREAS,
Coach McFerrin is the seventh all-time winningest coach in Georgia high school
football history; and
WHEREAS,
thousands of young Georgians have benefited from Coach McFerrin's service as an
educator, football coach, and director of athletics; and
WHEREAS,
at the end of the 2004 football season, Coach McFerrin announced his
retirement.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in recognizing and commending Coach Thomas "T" McFerrin for his
outstanding career and extend their sincere congratulations and best wishes on
the occasion of his retirement.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Coach Thomas
"T" McFerrin.
