RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Xi Beta Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
for their outstanding community service; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Xi Beta Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was chartered
in December 1981; and
WHEREAS,
the members of the Xi Beta Omega Chapter have given generously of their time to
community service to the Georgia counties of Spalding, Pike, Henry, Lamar, and
Butts; and
WHEREAS,
the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was founded in 1908 at Howard University;
and
WHEREAS,
it was the first sorority established by and for African American women;
and
WHEREAS,
it is highly fitting and proper that this body commend the Xi Beta Omega Chapter
for their outstanding work to empower the Griffin community; and
WHEREAS,
this outstanding group of young women celebrated "The Spirit of Alpha Kappa
Alpha Youth Forum" on Saturday, January 29, 2005.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in recognizing and commending the Xi Beta Omega Chapter of the
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for their outstanding service to their
community and the State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Xi Beta
Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
