A RESOLUTION

Commending Bob Hanner of Parrott, Georgia, for his service as Chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources and Environment; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Bob Hanner was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1975; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure he has served in various leadership positions from which he has advanced the protection, sustenance, and enhancement of Georgiás natural environment, including his service as Chairman of the Game and Fish Committee from 1992-1993 and his chairmanship of the Committee on Natural Resources and Environment from 1994-2005; and

WHEREAS, he has authored, coauthored, and shepherded through the General Assembly many of the key policies which govern the statés land and water resources, including the State-wide Water Plan Study Committee (SR 142), the Agricultural Water Use Measurement Act (HB 579), and the State-wide Water Management Planning Act (HB 237); and

WHEREAS, notwithstanding his modest and humble demeanor, he has demonstrated a zeal and commitment to clean, safe, and healthy air, rivers, streams, lakes, and ecological systems; and

WHEREAS, his expertise in environmental policy is rooted in a broad understanding of nature earned through years of experience growing up and working on the family farm and serving as a founding director of the Georgia Rural Water Association; and

WHEREAS, through his persistent dedication, he has helped to ensure that generations of Georgians can enjoy our statés natural resources.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Bob Hanner for his service as Chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources and Environment and to the State of Georgia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Bob Hanner.
