RESOLUTION
Commending
Honorable Georganna Sinkfield of Atlanta, House District 60, for service as
chairwoman of the House Committee on Children and Youth; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Honorable Georganna Sinkfield was elected to the Georgia House of
Representatives in 1982; and
WHEREAS,
during her years in the House, she has served in various leadership roles and
has played a pivotal role in providing the necessary resources to help meet the
needs of children and youth, senior citizens, low income families, and the
disabled citizens of this great state; and
WHEREAS,
she sponsored and cosponsored legislation addressing issues such as equity in
education, juvenile justice, and the protection and well-being of children and
their families, including legislation to create the Office of the Child
Advocate; and
WHEREAS,
her dedication and zeal for the welfare of children,
Georgiás
most precious resource, have been recognized by a broad spectrum of
organizations, including the "Friend of Children Award" from the Council for
Children, Inc., and Georgians for
Childreńs
"Champion Award"; and
WHEREAS,
her untiring commitment to
Georgiás
citizens and her dedication to their welfare are most appreciated by her
peers.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Honorable Georganna Sinkfield for her service as chairwoman of
the House Committee on Children and Youth and to the State of
Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Honorable
Georganna Sinkfield.
