RESOLUTION
Honoring
Dr. Joel L. Morgan upon being named Psychiatrist of the Year by the Georgia
Psychiatric Physicians Association; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Dr. Joel L. Morgan is the first South Georgia physician to be named by the
Georgia Psychiatric Physicians Association as Psychiatrist of the Year;
and
WHEREAS,
a graduate of Berrien County High School and Valdosta State University, Dr. Joel
L. Morgan went on to earn advanced degrees from the University of Georgia and
Medical College of Georgia, where he completed his residency; and
WHEREAS,
he maintains an active private practice at Valdosta Psychiatric Associates,
where he has worked tirelessly to provide the highest quality treatment to his
patients; and
WHEREAS,
he is widely recognized for his great compassion and his skill and expertise in
the field of psychiatry, serving as assistant clinical professor of psychiatry
at the Medical College of Georgia, chief of psychiatry services at South Georgia
Medical Center, medical psychiatric director at Parkwood Development Center, and
adult unit medical director at Greenleaf Center as well as serving on the South
Georgia Medical Center's Peer Review Committee, Greenleaf Center's Quality
Council, and Georgia's Medicare Review Board; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia is privileged to have such an esteemed physician and
patient advocate as a member of its medical community.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring Dr. Joel L. Morgan for his many years of dedication
to providing excellent medical care to Georgians with mental and emotional
illnesses and extend their sincere best wishes for his continued
success.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Joel L.
Morgan.
