RESOLUTION
Honoring
Sister Therese Galarneau on the occasion of her Golden Jubilee; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Sister Therese Galarneau is a Nun at St. John School in Valdosta, Georgia, and
she will be celebrating her Golden Jubilee on April 16, 2005; and
WHEREAS,
Sister Therese left her home as a teenager and has devoted 50 years to teaching
children; and
WHEREAS,
she had worked all these years with little or no salary and will retire someday
with a very small pension; and
WHEREAS,
she has taught school in inner cites and rural communities; at times she has
taught with no books and at one time she taught four grades in one room; and
WHEREAS,
Sister Therese has missed the births, weddings, and funerals of her own family
without complaint; she has always made the district she was assigned to her own
and has embraced the children of Valdosta as her family; and
WHEREAS,
the Golden Jubilee is a high point in every
Nuńs
humble life; it is every birthday party she never had and her wedding day rolled
into one; it is every thank you that the over 1,300 children she educated might
want to say to her.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body honor the exceptional life and achievements of Sister Therese
Galarneau on the occasion of her Golden Jubilee and send their best wishes for
her continued success.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Sister
Therese Galarneau.
