RESOLUTION
Honoring
and commending 3rd Force Reconnaissance Company and inviting these Marines to
appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
answering the call of duty, the dedicated Marines of 3rd Force Reconnaissance
Company of the United States Marine Corps Reserves provided support for
Operation Iraqi Freedom II from January of 2004 until March of 2005;
and
WHEREAS,
during these 14 months, the Marines of the 3rd Force Reconnaissance Company
displayed their dedication, skill, and incredible bravery, participating in the
first and second Battles of Fallujah, the Battle of Husaybah, and numerous
smaller actions as well as conducting daily direct action raids on known
terrorist targets, sniper observation posts, reconnaissance and surveillance
missions, and other offensive operations designed to bring security and
stability to one of the most dangerous regions of Iraq; and
WHEREAS,
sadly, during combat in Husaybah, Sergeant Foster Lee Harrington gave his life
in defense of freedom and liberty for the citizens of Iraq and of this great
nation; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of their sacrifice and valor, no fewer than 18 of these 128
Marines received the Purple Heart Medal for wounds received in action, and many
more medals continue to be awarded to members of this company for actions during
combat; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that this body proudly welcome home these
outstanding Marines and recognize their exemplary record of service and
sacrifice.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring the members of 3rd Force Reconnaissance Company,
commend these fine Marines for a job well done, and extend to them the
appreciation of a grateful state and nation.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Marines of 3rd Force Reconnaissance Company are
invited to appear before the House of Representatives at a date and time to be
fixed by the Speaker of the House for the purposes of being recognized by the
House and to receive appropriate copies of this resolution.
