RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending New Beginnings Christian Ministries Church; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
on March 28, 1999, New Beginnings Christian Ministries Fellowship was organized
in the fellowship hall of Capitol Avenue Highrise in Atlanta, Georgia, and on
April 4, 1999, their name was officially changed to New Beginnings Christian
Ministries Church; and
WHEREAS,
on May 12, 1999, the official roll began with 12 founding members and this year
the congregation proudly celebrates its sixth anniversary as a place of refuge
and a beacon of hope; and
WHEREAS,
this great church has reached out to the community and offers comfort and
encouragement to all people who are open to worship the glory of God;
and
WHEREAS,
the congregation of the New Beginnings Christian Ministries Church has committed
their energy and resources to build a fine, new edifice for its growing
membership, having had locations in College Park, sharing a sanctuary with Grace
Covenant Baptist Church, and finally moving to its present location on Mt. Zion
Road in Stockbridge, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
under the direction of Reverend Lewis W. Jay, eight charter members remain: Mr.
Marvin Clark, Mrs. Mary E. Knight, Mr. Lewis Knight, Sr., Mrs. Marjorie Miles
Owens, Mrs. Elizabeth Owens Travis, Mr. LeRoy Travis, Mrs. Deborah G. Tyson, and
Mr. Russell Tyson; and
WHEREAS,
New Beginnings Christian Ministries Church caters to many social services needs,
and ministries include Men of Valor and Women of Virtue; and
WHEREAS,
the sixth anniversary of this dynamic church offers an appropriate moment to
celebrate its foundation and its mission and to renew its commitment to good
will within the greater community it serves so well.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize and commend New Beginnings Christian Ministries Church on
its history of service and congratulate this great church on its sixth
anniversary.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Reverend
Lewis W. Jay.
