RESOLUTION
Acknowledging
Georgia Baptist Children's Home Day; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Georgia Baptist Children's Homes and Family Ministries is a caring ministry of
services designed to promote the spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being
of children, youth, and families; and
WHEREAS,
services provided by the Georgia Baptist Children's Homes and Family Ministries
include residential care, emergency shelters, diagnostics and assessment,
residential counseling for adolescent substance abuse, maternity care, and
services for children with developmental disabilities; and
WHEREAS,
Children's Home Day was established by the Georgia Baptist Convention many years
ago as a way to recognize Georgia Baptist Children's Homes and Family Ministries
and to give widespread attention to the needs of children who have been abused,
abandoned, and neglected; and
WHEREAS,
currently, Children's Home Day is celebrated on Mother's Day of each
year.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body acknowledge Mother's Day, 2005, as Georgia Baptist Children's Home
Day.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Georgia
Baptist Convention.
