RESOLUTION
Honoring
Bishop Moses A. Lewis; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Moses A. Lewis was born February 19, 1937, in Sylvania, Screven County, Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
he found salvation at the age of 17, and answered the Lord’s call to the
ministry at age 19; and
WHEREAS,
he has inspired congregations in the churches he has led, including Isle of Hope
in Hinesville, Georgia; Upper Room Temple in Wabassau, Florida; Upper Room in
Baxley, Georgia; Zion Temple in Glennville, Georgia; St. John in Ludowici,
Georgia; Gospel Light in Sylvania, Georgia; Holy Temple in Atlanta, Georgia;
Stevens Temple in Statesboro, Georgia; and Greater Emmanuel Tabernacle in
Savannah, Georgia, for the last 24 years; and
WHEREAS,
he served with dedication as District Overseer on the Georgia District from 1974
until he was elected to the position of presiding Bishop over the churches of
Christ Holiness Unto the Lord, Inc., in 1979; and
WHEREAS,
in addition to his dynamic leadership as Bishop, he revitalized the National
Sunday School Convention, setting it on a path of progressive development, and
founded the Major Solomon Bennett Bible Institute; and
WHEREAS,
he and his wife, Essie Bell Grant Lewis, have been blessed with six
children.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body honor Bishop Moses A. Lewis for his dynamic leadership, faithful
service, and many valuable contributions to his community.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Bishop Moses
A. Lewis.
