RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Helen Denton for her many years of outstanding military and
public service; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
born in South Dakota, Mrs. Helen Denton joined the army in 1943 at the age of 21
and was one of nine children in a family that, at one time, had five children in
World War II; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Denton played a major role in the history of the United States Armed
Forces, and serving as secretary to General Dwight D. Eisenhower, she typed the
plans for the liberation of Europe, better known as D-Day; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Denton has always been a devoted and tenacious advocate for the United
States Armed Forces and the children of her community; and
WHEREAS,
as an exemplary citizen and public servant, Mrs. Denton gives selflessly of her
time, energy, and expertise as Post Commander of VFW 3650 and numerous military
organizations and events within her community; and
WHEREAS,
she has truly helped to improve the quality of life for veterans of Riverdale
and Clayton County; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia is honored to have such a fine lady as one of its
citizens.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in recognizing and commending Mrs. Helen Denton for her untiring
dedication to her community and her many contributions to Clayton County and the
State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Helen
Denton.
