A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and congratulating Reverend Willie Gwyn; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Willie Gwyn is well known in evangelical circles as a Bible teacher, conference speaker, and pastor who has enjoyed a rewarding career ministering; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Gwyn was born in Sylvania, Georgia, and graduated from Jenkins County Training School, attended Morehouse College, graduated from Savannah State University, and received his masteŕs degree in guidance and counseling from Fort Valley State University; and

WHEREAS, he also proudly served our country in the United States Navy; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Gwyńs pastoral service includes serving as pastor or interim pastor in Savannah at First Brownsville Baptist Church, Happy Home Baptist Church, Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church and in Thunderbolt, Georgia, at College Park Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, after his blessed years of pastoral service, he retired in 1998 and became Pastor Emeritus of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Gwyn has not only served as a spiritual leader in the community but is recognized for his vital role in leading the community in educational and cultural endeavors; and

WHEREAS, he is married to Mrs. Wilmotine Brown Gwyn and is the beloved father of six daughters and three sons.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and congratulate Reverend Willie Gwyn on being credited by Our Brotheŕs Keeper for his more than 46 years of devotion to Savannah and convey their best wishes in his future pursuits.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Reverend Willie Gwyn.
