A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the extraordinary career of Doris R. "Dee" Cantrell, FNP, Ed.D. on the occasion of her retirement; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ms. Cantrell has been devoted to her work in public health, making a significant contribution to the health of the community not only in the West Central Health District, but throughout Georgia, since April 26, 1971; and

WHEREAS, in the course of her career with the Department of Human Resources Division of Public Health, she devoted her time and energies to developing programs and enabling people to deliver the best quality healthcare in the southeast; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Cantrell has been a mentor and friend to public health workers all over Georgia, has enriched the lives of many with her unfailing warmth and respect of all people, and has been a champion of education and professional development; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Cantrell used the education she received at St. Francis School of Nursing in Columbus, registered nurse; the University of Alabama, Family Nurse Practitioner; Columbus State University, B.S. in Nursing and Health Education; and Auburn University, Masters and Doctorate degrees in Community Health to the benefit of the citizens of the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Cantrell is highly esteemed by her colleagues for her commitment and her expertise and has been recognized by local, regional, and national organizations for her many contributions to the nursing field and to public health; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Cantrell will leave a legacy and a challenge to those who follow by the words she lived by, "Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe, and enthusiastically act upon, must surely come to pass"; and

WHEREAS, the citizens of the State of Georgia are honored to have had such an outstanding public health professional as one of its employees for over 34 years.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in recognizing and commending Doris R. "Dee" Cantrell, FNP, Ed.D. for her outstanding career and extend their sincere congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of her retirement.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Doris R. "Dee" Cantrell.
