RESOLUTION
Honoring
Pastor Thomas J. Simmons; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Pastor Thomas J. Simmons is a native of Savannah, Georgia, and received his
early education in the Savannah/Chatham County Public School System;
and
WHEREAS,
a faithful member of Brampton Baptist Church, he was called into the gospel
ministry in 1956; and
WHEREAS,
he has been an inspiration to the congregations he has led as pastor: First Mt.
Calvary Baptist Church, Bethel Baptist Church, Mount Moriah Baptist Church,
Mount Bethel Baptist Church, Brampton Baptist Church, and St. Paul Baptist
Church; and
WHEREAS,
he and his wife Mabel are held in great affection and regard by their community;
and
WHEREAS,
he retired from a successful career as a laboratory technician with the G. F.
Corporation; and
WHEREAS,
he has been an active member of the Mt. Moriah Lodge and the Ancient Order of
the Knights of Damon.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body honor Pastor Thomas J. Simmons for his dedicated service, dynamic
leadership, and many contributions to his community.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Pastor Thomas
J. Simmons.
