A RESOLUTION

Honoring and commending Reuben Sherrill; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Reuben Sherrill is a responsible citizen whose love for his family, neighborhood, church, county, and country is reflected in his civic activities; and

WHEREAS, while pursuing a degree in Agriculture at the University of Georgia, Mr. Sherrill joined the ROTC, willing to make the necessary sacrifice in defense of his country, and served honorably and courageously in World War II; and

WHEREAS, displaying the loyalty and sense of duty that has come to characterize his life, he remained in the Army after peace was declared as part of the Occupation in Japan, only completing his degree after his military service had been fulfilled; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Sherrill has been a loyal campaigner for the Republican Party who, over the course of his 35 years in the Northlake community, has worked with the utmost dedication for local and national candidates and served capably as chair for the Henderson Mill Precinct; and

WHEREAS, he has been a reliable attendee of the DeKalb Republican Breakfast Forum who can not only be relied on to prepare the coffee for the 8AM Saturday meeting but also to lend his energy and enthusiasm and take an active role in all of its activities; and

WHEREAS, desiring the best for his neighbors, Mr. Sherrill has been active in the Henderson Mill community and especially the Henderson Mill Civic Association; and

WHEREAS, he has used each of his 80 years well as a faithful husband to Vivian, his loving wife of 55 years, a father and role model to sons Clay and Clint and his five grandchildren, a productive employee of 35 years to the John Deere Company, a loyal friend, dependable neighbor, faithful Christian, and patriotic American.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in commending Mr. Reuben Sherrill for his dedication to his community, his state, and his country and express their sincere appreciation for his commitment to making a difference within his community.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Reuben Sherrill.
