RESOLUTION
Recognizing
the Coalition of Labor Union Women and inviting the Georgia Chapter of the
Coalition of Labor Union Women to appear before the House of Representatives;
and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Coalition of Labor Union Women (CLUW) is
Americás
only national organization for union women; and
WHEREAS,
formed in 1974, CLUW is a nonpartisan organization within the union movement;
and
WHEREAS,
the primary mission of CLUW is to unify all union women in a viable organization
to determine their common problems and to develop action programs to deal
effectively with their objectives; and
WHEREAS,
with members from 60 international and national unions across the United States
and Canada, CLUW has a strong network of more than 75 chapters; and
WHEREAS,
CLUW members actively speak out on issues relating to equal pay, child and elder
care benefits, job security, safe workplaces, affordable health care,
contraceptive equality, and protection from sexual harassment and violence at
work.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize and commend the Coalition of Labor Union Women and invite
the members of the Georgia Chapter to appear before this body at a date and time
to be determined by the Speaker.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Georgia
Chapter of the Coalition of Labor Union Women.
