RESOLUTION
Recognizing
the contributions of black contractors to the State of Georgia and declaring
February 10, 2005, as Black Contractors Day in Georgia; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
construction is the foundation of economic growth in this state and contributes
significantly to the quality of life of Georgia citizens; and
WHEREAS,
black contractors have been an integral part of this
statés
construction industry and have made major contributions to its growth and
development; and
WHEREAS,
collectively, black contractors have a rich tradition of great service and have
promoted skill, craftsmanship, and professionalism within the construction
industry; and
WHEREAS,
even when confronted with barriers for full equality within the industry, black
contractors have held the entrepreneurial spirit and prevailed in expanding
their own opportunities for service and success.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize the contributions of black contractors to the State of
Georgia and declare February 10, 2005, to be Black Contractors Day in Georgia.
