RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Kennesaw Mountain High School Marching Band; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
in front of the crowd at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana, the Kennesaw
Mountain High School Marching Band delivered exceptional performances at the
Bands of America Grand National Championships; and
WHEREAS,
the Kennesaw Mountain High School Marching Band was one of only 93 bands chosen
from among 40 states to compete in this event; and
WHEREAS,
with their strongest performance of the season, they advanced into first place
with a score of 95.60, the top score of the season in Bands of America
competitions, and secured the Class AAA National Championship as well as
recognition for the highest achievements in the Music and General Effect
categories; and
WHEREAS,
this earned them a spot among the 12 elite bands selected from across the nation
to compete in the Grand National Finals, where they finished second overall and
were again awarded highest achievement in the General Effect category;
and
WHEREAS,
these victories were the culmination of a season of hard work and dedication and
attest to the talent and determination of the band members and staff;
and
WHEREAS,
the Kennesaw community and the State of Georgia take great pride in the
accomplishments of these outstanding young musicians.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in recognizing and commending the Kennesaw Mountain High School
Marching Band for their outstanding performances at the Bands of America Grand
National Championships and the Grand National Finals and extend their sincere
best wishes for the continued success of this exceptional high school band
program.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to David Starnes,
Director of Bands, Kennesaw Mountain High School and Barry E. Morgan, Cobb
County Solicitor General.
