RESOLUTION
Commending
the men and women of the Clayton County Police Department and inviting them to
appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the 305 men and women of the Clayton County Police Department are dedicated
professionals who have displayed great valor as they have quietly gone about
their duty of protecting the
countýs
citizens; and
WHEREAS,
the Clayton County Police Department stands shoulder to shoulder with the best
police departments in the nation and is committed to pubic safety, as is
indicated by its numerous 2003 International Association of Chiefs of Police
(IACP) awards; and
WHEREAS,
the Aviation Unit was awarded the
IACṔs
Excellence in Police Aviation Award; and
WHEREAS,
the Atlanta Metro Area Highway Speed Enforcement Unit was recognized by the IACP
as first in the nation; and
WHEREAS,
the
Governoŕs
Office of Highway Safety presented the first Statewide Recognition for Child
Restraint Devices to the department; and
WHEREAS,
the Metro Atlanta Heat Unit received the first place Multi-Jurisdictional Award;
and
WHEREAS,
the department was first in the
Governoŕs
Challenge Speed Awareness Award and second overall in the
Governoŕs
Challenge Award.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the men and women of the Clayton County Police Department on
their outstanding performance in the line of duty and on their recent
International Association of Chiefs of Police and
Governoŕs
awards and invite its members to appear before the House at a date and time to
be determined by the Speaker of the House.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Chief of
Police Darrell Partain and the Clayton County Police Department.
